Driver Middle School Counseling
Throughout the month of February, our middle school students have the opportunity to participate in a school-wide fundraiser. Each PRIDE class will have a collection bucket, and the class raising the most funds for the Riley Children's Hospital by the end of the month will be rewarded. There will be different dress up days and events throughout the month of February, so it will be important for students to listen to announcements to they don't miss anything!
This fundraiser is a great way for our students to work on citizenship development. We have several students who are patients at the Riley Hospital themselves or who have family members who are patients, which is why we choose to support this cause.
Do you ever find yourself wishing your 8th grader would realize that 'money doesn't grow on trees'? The Reality Store can help! Prior to the even, students participate in classroom career activities and select a career that interests them. On the day of the Reality Store, they are given one month's salary and have the opportunity to make choices and decisions resulting in one month of bills. The Reality Store helps students see the importance of educational and career choices, budgeting, and wise decision-making. Hopefully they will leave with a greater appreciation for their patents and the ways that families have to work together to make ends meet.
This event requires a lot of volunteers - including parents and community members - so if you are interested in helping please contact Mrs. Wright via email at swright@randolphcentral.us or by phone (extension 1020). More information will be sent out to students once a date is set for this year's event.
