What is SADD?

Originally, the mission of SADD was to help young people say "No" to drinking and driving. Today, the mission has expanded. Students work towards using positive peer pressure, role modeling and environmental strategies to prevent destructive decisions and set a healthier, safer course for their lives.

SADD has become a peer-to-peer education, prevention, and activism organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, teen violence, and teen suicide. This is a student led program, so active participation is a must!

Why should I join SADD?

This is a leadership opportunity for students. SADD’s mission is to empower young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them in their daily lives. SADD members ask their peers to learn/listen to the facts, make good decisions, and think about how today’s choices will impact their future.

What will we do as a SADD club?

There are many different options for our SADD club to pursue. There are monthly topics provided by the National SADD organization, or we can select our own topics to work on. Some examples: Bullying Prevention, Mix it up at lunch day, Lights on for Life, Great American Smokeout, No Name-Calling Week, Friends for Life Campaign, Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Kick Butts Day, Public Heath Awareness Week, Mental Health Month, etc.

What do I need to do to join?

Simply talk to Mrs. Wright or come to a Friday meeting.  Listen to the morning announcements to make sure you know when a meeting is coming up. There are no dues to join SADD club.

Yearly Candy-Grams Fundraiser - December

SADD members sell candy-grams during lunch one week of December. These are Holiday Cards with a candy cane attached. These candy-grams are delivered before winter break.

Last year almost 400 candy-grams were purchased!

Pennies for Patients Fundraiser - February

Our goal for 2017 was to raise $1,924 to donate to the Riley Children's Hospital and sponsor a red wagon. SADD Club organized dress up days, Minute to Win It Challenges during lunch, Valentine Cards, and  a skating party. With everyone's combined efforts we were able to reach our goal!

Our club quote for the year:

Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you.

Red Ribbon Week 2020

This year's theme was:
Be Happy. Be Brave.
Be drug Free.

The students had a cute idea to make a beehive, and students could sign a bee at lunch if they agree they are going to be drug free!
